There are two very important reasons to choose Eco Furniture for your home and business:
your health and the health of the planet!
Conventional mass-produced furniture often starts with trees locally clear-cut, then shipped around the world to large factories to be cheaply manufactured. Large manufacturers save money by cutting corners on the quality of their products and the quality of life afforded to their employees.
Plywood and finished cabinets are then shipped back to North America, only to be loaded onto trucks and trains to travel further. Once these products arrive in our homes, they start releasing gasses like formaldehyde (a known carcinogen) from glues and varnishes that will continue to make us sick for years to come!
These are the hidden costs behind “low-cost” furniture.
At Eco Furniture, we use only materials from companies utilizing safe, sustainable practices. Any accessories we need to import are fairly traded. We will even use driftwood if we can!
We do not use urethanes, adhesives, particle board or MDF, and we use only natural finishes like beeswax, tung oil, linseed oil and walnut oil, so you don’t have to worry about toxic fumes or residues!
We are proud to offer you both source materials that are sustainably harvested and manufactured as close to us as currently possible along side new and exciting materials, such as engineered bamboo products, countertop materials made of recycled paper or recycled glass and cost-effective, yet beautiful, formaldehyde-free FSC-certifed Plywood. All the materials we use are guaranteed natural and non-toxic with documentation to prove it.
And finally, our products are thoughtfully designed and thoroughly tested for durability, so you know they will last for a long, long time to come, but break-down and naturally return to the earth when required. Because we do not use glues, once your furniture has outlived its usefulness, you can dismantle it easily by simply removing the screws. Since we do not use toxic finishes, you can burn the wood in your fireplace, or chip/mulch it for your compost.
When it comes to the people behind Eco Furniture, we believe the best workmanship and service will always come from the happiest craftspeople – we believe in Fair Trade both at home and abroad!
We are very proud of the products we create and therefor want to offer with them the best possible service to you. We begin by listening to your ideas, then work with you, without price-gouging or green-washing to make your dreams a reality.
